About the position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) role is essential for providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting them with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring their dignity and rights are respected. The DSP will work primarily on weekends, with opportunities for additional weekday hours as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
• Support clients in daily living activities, such as meal preparation, medication management, and household chores.
• Provide transportation and accompany clients to appointments, outings, and recreational activities.
• Foster independence and skill development by implementing individualized support plans and goals.
• Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, activities, and incidents.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members to ensure continuity of care and address any concerns or needs.
• Promote a safe and inclusive environment that respects the dignity and rights of all individuals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in caregiving, direct support, or related field preferred.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
