About the position

The Direct Support Staff (PCA) role involves providing essential support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in their daily activities and personal care tasks. This position is crucial for promoting independence and enhancing the quality of life for those served, while also ensuring a safe and organized living environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities in their daily activities
• Assist with personal care tasks, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
• Help individuals with meal preparation and feeding
• Support individuals in maintaining a clean and organized living environment
• Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
• Drive individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings
• Document and report any significant changes or incidents regarding the individuals' health or behavior
• Collaborate with other team members and professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans

Requirements

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with individuals with disabilities
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Knowledge of social work principles and practices
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Basic understanding of behavioral management techniques
• Physical ability to lift and transfer individuals as needed

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in caregiving (1 year preferred)
• Valid First Aid Certification
