About the position

The Directed Energy Modeling and Simulation Programmer at Stellar Science is responsible for developing and extending scientific and engineering analysis applications, particularly in the areas of high-power microwave systems and high energy laser systems. This role involves utilizing modern technologies and methodologies to support research and development efforts, ensuring responsiveness to customer needs through an agile development process.

Responsibilities

• Develop and extend scientific and engineering analysis applications.
• Support research and development in modeling and simulation of directed energy systems.
• Implement, understand, and maintain mathematical and scientific codes.
• Utilize object-oriented design and programming in C++.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project goals and deadlines.

Requirements

• B.S. in physics, math, engineering, computer science, or a related field; M.S. or Ph.D. desired.
• Substantial software development experience.
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art radio frequency or laser modeling and simulation tools.
• Ability to implement, understand, and maintain mathematical and scientific codes.
• Experience with object-oriented design and programming in C++.
• U.S. citizenship and willingness to undergo background investigation.

Nice-to-haves

• Directed energy modeling and simulation experience.
• Experience with RF or laser source, propagation and target effects modeling.
• Cross-platform software development on Linux and Windows.
• Experience with 3D graphics, ray tracing, and physics-based rendering.
• User interface development with Qt.
• Experience with supercomputing, CUDA, OpenMP, MPI.
