About the position

The Director of Actuarial & Analytics for Agribusiness at Travelers Insurance is a leadership role responsible for overseeing actuarial functions within the Agribusiness unit. This position involves managing a small team and collaborating with various departments to implement strategic initiatives, enhance profitability, and drive analytical insights that influence business decisions. The role requires a strong understanding of actuarial methods, statistical analyses, and the insurance industry, with a focus on delivering innovative data solutions and improving business outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the actuarial functions for the Agribusiness unit, including planning, rate adequacy, and profitability reporting.
  • Manage a small team and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Perform actuarial and analytic analyses to solve complex business problems.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, peers, and senior leaders, tailoring messages to different audiences.
  • Mentor and develop talent within the team, supporting their professional growth and performance management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience performing quantitative analysis required.
  • 7+ years of quantitative analysis experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of insurance products and industry.
  • Demonstrated ability in actuarial and quantitative analysis and statistical concepts.
  • Management experience is required.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills are essential.
  • Strong PC skills (MS Office) and programming skills (e.g., SQL, SAS) are necessary.

  • Associate Actuarial Credential preferred.
