About the position

The Director of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering at Lucid will spearhead the development and implementation of innovative manufacturing technologies and processes for the company's next-generation luxury electric vehicles. This leadership role demands extensive experience in automotive manufacturing, process engineering, and automation, with a focus on creating high-quality, scalable, and cost-effective production solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) team to develop new manufacturing technologies and improve current processes for high-volume vehicle production.
  • Collaborate with Product Design, Process Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure manufacturability of components and systems, focusing on quality, efficiency, and cost optimization.
  • Identify and implement advanced manufacturing techniques, including automation, robotics, additive manufacturing, and digital manufacturing technologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, and other industry-leading methodologies.
  • Oversee the integration of new technologies into manufacturing lines and ensure seamless scaling from prototype to full-scale production.
  • Build and maintain relationships with equipment suppliers, technology partners, and internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and innovation in manufacturing processes.
  • Lead capital expenditure planning and manage budgets for new technology investments and plant upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities for the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure a high-performance and collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in automotive manufacturing, including hands-on experience with advanced manufacturing processes, automation, and process development.
  • Proven leadership experience, managing large cross-functional teams and driving advanced manufacturing initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing environments, preferably in electric vehicles or automotive industries.
  • Expertise in manufacturing technologies such as automation, robotics, additive manufacturing, digital simulation, and data-driven process optimization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a track record of driving innovative solutions.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
