About the position

The Director of Advanced Manufacturing Training at Southern Maine Community College is responsible for developing and implementing training programs that align with Manufacturing 4.0 standards. This role involves building partnerships with defense industry manufacturers and collaborating with faculty and staff to create responsive training solutions. The position is primarily administrative and grant-funded for an initial period of two years, with potential for extension based on performance and funding availability.

Responsibilities

  • Build relationships with defense industry manufacturers in Maine.
  • Create responsive and flexible training programs focused on Manufacturing 4.0 standards.
  • Collaborate with SMCC Faculty in Precision Manufacturing and Pre-Engineering.
  • Work with SMCC Workforce Development administration and staff.
  • Partner with the Advanced Manufacturing Center at the University of Maine.
  • Develop short-term, certificate-awarding credentials.
  • Engage in some teaching activities.
  • Manage grant funding and reporting requirements.
  • Design curriculum in manufacturing and oversee budgeting.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing in the defense industry or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in training and development in a related field or higher education.
  • Grant management experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or related field with over 5 years of professional experience in manufacturing.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Business, Technical Education or related field.
