About the position

The Director, Aircraft Maintenance at Aims Community College is responsible for overseeing all aircraft maintenance activities in support of the Aviation Department. This role ensures compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations, manages maintenance operations, and supervises aircraft maintenance personnel. The Director will also engage in professional development and contribute to the college's mission of promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all aircraft maintainers at Aims Community College.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations regarding aircraft airworthiness.
  • Manage and coordinate all planned and unplanned aircraft maintenance for the Aims fleet.
  • Conduct troubleshooting of aircraft system discrepancies and perform required inspections and maintenance.
  • Provide on-call aircraft and flight crew support on a rotating basis.
  • Manage aircraft parts inventory and approve purchases within budget constraints.
  • Perform quality assurance for all aircraft maintenance tools, equipment, and personnel.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with Flight Operations Coordinator and Aviation Department leadership.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of operational aircraft maintenance experience, with two (2) years in General Aviation.
  • One (1) year of supervisory and/or demonstrated leadership experience.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate with Inspection Authorization (must become current within 60 days of hire).
  • High level of trade-specific computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in risk management and mitigation.
  • Experience in personnel management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's Degree in Aviation, Education, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of operational aircraft maintenance experience in General Aviation.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in aircraft maintenance.
  • Letter of designation DME (Designated Maintenance Examiner).
  • FAA pilot certifications.
  • Experience with safety management systems.
