About the position

The Director of Aircraft Technical Data at United Airlines is responsible for leading the Technical Data Management and Maintenance Program change management teams. This role involves developing and driving strategies for technical support document content creation and deployment, ensuring the maintenance and repair of the fleet through effective management of technical data. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and a focus on developing talent within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Technical Data Management and Maintenance Program change management teams.
  • Develop and drive the strategy for technical support document content creation and deployment.
  • Own the business strategy, product vision, and product roadmap prioritization for technology solutions that support technical data.
  • Lead the technical data management team responsible for content creation and processing of Tech Ops policies & procedures manuals.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders and industry groups to understand existing policies related to technical data management and delivery.
  • Develop and coach employees to ensure knowledge retention within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Management, Technical Communications, or related field.
  • 7+ years of aviation technical data experience including 3+ years leading people at Sr. Manager level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster collaboration between organizational groups.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to technical data and manuals.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience with large scale content management systems.
  • 5+ years of experience with configuration management organizations.
  • 5+ years of experience with airline or aircraft digital product management and implementation.
  • Understanding of mechanical drawings and bill of materials.
  • Proficient in configuration management and technical data management tools (e.g., CAD, PDM, S1000D).
  • Knowledge of lean principles and process improvement methodologies.
