About the position

As a Director of Analytics Engineering at PURE Insurance, you will play a pivotal role in managing a small team or serving as a highly experienced individual contributor within our newly established Data & ML/AI department. This department is dedicated to enhancing our data, analytics, data science, machine learning (ML), and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that data is well-modeled and accessible for analysis, which is crucial for driving business value across the organization. You will have the opportunity to design and implement data models and schemas that will serve as the backbone for our analytics efforts. In this role, you will develop and maintain dbt models for data transformations, collaborating closely with analysts to meet their data reporting and advanced ML/AI modeling needs. Ensuring data quality and consistency will be a key focus, as will creating and managing comprehensive data documentation and metadata. This position not only allows you to leverage cutting-edge technologies such as Databricks/Snowflake, dbt, and Python but also places you at the forefront of innovation within the insurance ecosystem, engaging with various functions from IT/Technology to business units like Underwriting, Claims, and Customer Experience. Responsibilities

• Design and implement data models and schemas.
• Develop and maintain dbt models for data transformations.
• Collaborate with analysts to meet data reporting and advanced ML/AI modeling needs.
• Ensure data quality and consistency.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• At least 7 years of experience in analytics engineering or data analytics or data engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience in the insurance industry.
• At least 2 years of development experience using dbt.
• Experience in team management or as a senior individual contributor.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
