About the position

The Director and Internship Coach at Alverno College will lead the Career Studio, focusing on career development initiatives and providing coaching and internship guidance to students, particularly those who are first-generation college attendees. This role emphasizes maintaining a culture of superior service to support a diverse student population and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance student career readiness and success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Career Studio, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
  • Manage the Career Studio budget to align with departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with various college departments to support student retention and development.
  • Identify funding opportunities and manage grant reporting for the Career Studio.
  • Work with academic leaders to support students' academic and career goals.
  • Oversee metrics analysis to track progress towards goals and adjust programs as needed.
  • Provide individualized career coaching to students and alumni, focusing on job search skills and internship opportunities.
  • Teach career-focused courses and collaborate with faculty on career path activities for at-risk students.
  • Monitor and document credit-bearing internships and provide guidance to students.
  • Facilitate workshops and participate in career fairs and events.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in administration, counseling, business administration, communications, leadership, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in higher education career development or related roles, with five years preferred.
  • Experience supervising professional staff.
  • Strong program development and administrative leadership skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in career coaching/advising.
  • Understanding of college student development and a student-centered support philosophy.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Southeastern Wisconsin.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in fundraising or grant management.
  • Spanish/bilingual skills are strongly preferred.
