About the position

The Director, AP Japanese Language and Culture Assessment Lead at College Board is responsible for overseeing the quality and validity of all assessment content for the AP Japanese Language and Culture exam. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure that assessment materials align with educational standards and best practices. The Assessment Lead will manage the development of assessment content, train subject-matter experts, and contribute to the overall improvement of assessment processes within the AP program.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the assessment leader for AP Japanese Language and Culture, responsible for assessment development.
  • Author and revise assessment content, training educators on best practices for assessment content creation.
  • Lead the development and management of all assessment content through iterative review stages with stakeholders.
  • Ensure alignment of AP Exam development with approved curricula and test specifications.
  • Conduct meetings with committees to discuss assessment content and development.
  • Lead the scoring of student AP Exams at the annual AP Reading event and produce related publications.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in Japanese Language or a directly related discipline; a doctorate is preferred.
  • Native to near-native fluency in Japanese.
  • Experience in standardized assessment development.
  • Experience with digital assessment is preferred.
  • Teaching experience is preferred.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Strong project management skills and adherence to schedules.
  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office and browser-based applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
