About the position

The Director of Audit and Advisory Services at UCLA will lead the audit program, shaping its future and contributing to the university's legacy of excellence. This role involves strategic planning, operational integration, and hands-on implementation of audit initiatives, particularly focusing on Information Technology-based audits. The director will oversee a team of 20-25 employees, ensuring effective audit coverage and performance evaluation while managing client operations and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of the Audit and Advisory Services department's strategic vision.
  • Formulate comprehensive long-range and annual audit plans using established risk assessment methodologies.
  • Oversee the scheduling of audit assignments, approving purpose, scope, objectives, time budget, and procedures.
  • Manage a team of 20-25 employees, measuring and documenting performance based on departmental standards.
  • Integrate operational goals into the audit framework and monitor successful realization of plans.
  • Engage with campus technologists to ensure the success of IT-based audit programs.
  • Identify risks associated with operations and establish objectives for audit coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum of 10 years of internal audit experience.
  • Active professional certification as a CPA or CIA, with additional certifications such as CA, CFE, CISA, CFSA, CGFM.
  • Demonstrated expertise in auditing and accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
  • Internal audit management experience in financial management, fraud, waste, and abuse, funded research, and healthcare.
  • Ability to identify risks and establish objectives for audit coverage.
  • Effective interpersonal relationships with auditors and management at all levels.
