About the position

The Director of Brand Management at Staples, Inc. is responsible for leading the brand team to execute brand plans, commercial strategies, and key initiatives for a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of private brands. This role requires a dynamic leader who can navigate a matrixed organization, ensuring that brand strategies align with customer needs and market trends. The position emphasizes collaboration across various teams to deliver consistent brand experiences and drive innovation in product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive brand strategies, including brand positioning and target audience definition.
  • Lead the creation of creative briefs for new brands and brand refreshes, collaborating with creative and agency partners.
  • Develop and maintain detailed brand, packaging, and product guides to ensure consistency across all brand touchpoints.
  • Ensure Staples brands are consistently executed across all customer touchpoints, including packaging and digital assets.
  • Lead the development of creative briefs for new product development packaging and digital content.
  • Partner with merchant and marketing teams to develop and execute multi-channel go-to-market launch plans.
  • Monitor brand performance metrics and provide recommendations for optimization.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and consumer preferences to drive innovation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including private brand, merchant, marketing, and digital teams.
  • Manage 3+ direct reports, providing development and feedback.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Brand Strategy, Brand Management, or Consulting; private brand experience preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated experience using data to prioritize.
  • Ability to thrive in new, ambiguous, and evolving environments, demonstrating adaptability and determination.
  • Experience in building a strong culture and inspiring teams.

  • Experience in multi-channel marketing strategies including digital, social, and content marketing.
  • Proficiency in creative and data-driven decision making.
