About the position

The Director - Business Banking Sales is responsible for leading and managing a team of Business Banking Relationship Managers, focusing on new business development, portfolio management, credit quality, and relationship management for clients with annual revenues ranging from five million to thirty million. This role involves strategic partnerships with Commercial Banking and Consumer Banking leadership to enhance lending and deposit portfolios, while ensuring compliance and regulatory standards are met. The position emphasizes revenue generation through strong client relationships and cross-selling opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Hires, trains, and manages a staff of Business Banking Relationship Managers.
  • Monitors and coaches performance of team members to ensure goals are achieved.
  • Leads the development of the team's network of clients and centers of influence.
  • Serves as an escalation point for client relationships, addressing issues and removing obstacles.
  • Assists the team with generating revenue, deposit gathering, and fee production.
  • Partners with leadership to create a strategic plan for Business Banking and track individualized goals.
  • Ensures proactive monitoring of credit quality in portfolios and compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for talent management functions including performance evaluations and staff development.
  • Performs special projects and additional duties as required.
  • Manages a direct expense budget and adheres to regulatory compliance policies.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in business, finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in commercial lending/business banking lending/small business lending.
  • 15+ years of Sales Leadership experience in Commercial Sales/Business Banking Sales/Small Business Sales.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with SBA programs (preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Treasury Management Sales (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong sales process expertise leading multiple teams in diverse locations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong coaching and teammate development expertise.
  • Strong credit and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
