About the position

The Director Campus Collection Area is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Campus Collection compliance offices within the Small Business/Self-Employed division of the IRS. This role involves overseeing various programs, ensuring compliance with established policies, and resolving taxpayer issues efficiently. The Director will lead a team, set program goals, and collaborate with other IRS executives to enhance service delivery and taxpayer education.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Campus Collection compliance office.
  • Establish program goals and guidelines to aid personnel in meeting work plans and schedules.
  • Direct statistical analysis and evaluation of Campus Collection balanced measures.
  • Monitor balanced measures and develop comprehensive program review activities to evaluate operations and recommend improvements.
  • Develop transition planning strategies to integrate current organizational structure into future plans.
  • Participate in setting program policy for Campus Collection compliance by planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating programs and activities.
  • Advise Directors on matters related to the incumbent's area of responsibility.
  • Provide input to Director, Collection regarding the effectiveness of Servicewide policies and programs.
  • Provide executive leadership and direction through subordinate managers.
  • Delegate authority to subordinates to manage resources effectively and foster a supportive environment for creativity and innovation.
  • Ensure key managers operate as an effective management team and handle management functions equitably.
  • Coach subordinate managers and assist in resolving complex issues.
  • Work closely with other IRS executives to ensure consistent service delivery to customers.
  • Participate in the development, execution, and monitoring of work plans and financial plans.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization of allocated resources.
  • Oversee adherence to standardized requirements for corporately-managed workloads and centrally-managed networks.
  • Implement and coordinate required training activities.
  • Direct the development of activities to build partnerships and collaborate with stakeholders to increase taxpayer education.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Geographic mobility to accomplish the Service's mission.
  • Completion of a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).
  • Certification of registration with the Selective Service System for male applicants born after December 31, 1959, or certification of exemption.
  • Completion of a background investigation and suitability determination for Federal employment.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate activities of large and complex programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating programs for high customer service levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience at or above the GS-15 grade level in federal service or equivalent leadership level in other sectors.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory experience indicative of senior executive level management capability.
