About the position

The Director of Career Coaching at Ivy Tech Community College is responsible for providing coaching services to assist students in completing their Career Development Portfolio (CDP). This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance student engagement and career development, ensuring students are equipped with the necessary tools and experiences for successful career placement.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Executive Director of Ivy+ Career Link to develop campus strategy and goals.
  • Lead Career Coaches to implement strategies for student engagement.
  • Coach and track student progress in implementing their CDP through one-on-one and group coaching.
  • Ensure students complete at least one work-and-learn experience by the 45th academic hour.
  • Provide orientation experiences that reflect the CDP in collaboration with campus stakeholders.
  • Build group-coaching and presentation operations for the coaching team.
  • Strategize efforts for building student CDPs and career exploration tools.
  • Promote a career development culture on campus in partnership with stakeholders.
  • Deliver presentations and participate in staff fairs and events with the Executive Director and other consultants.
  • Report on lead indicators and results related to CDP participation and student engagement.
  • Stay current on employment trends and align them with program opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to track the impact of career coaching on student outcomes.
  • Oversee portals related to career awareness and student case management.
  • Support Career Coaches in documentation and data tracking.
  • Establish a consistent operational model for work-and-learn experiences with campus stakeholders.
  • Connect students with employer work-and-learn experiences and improve internship placement tools.
  • Develop student capacities in workforce and career readiness.
  • Act as a liaison with the Assistant Vice President of Career Coaching to ensure alignment with statewide frameworks.
  • Participate in professional growth and training programs related to career coaching.
  • Provide mentorship and training support for newly hired and current coaches.
  • Facilitate projects for statewide student engagement in Career Coaching.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of three years related experience in career development and/or coaching.
  • Experience in case management and relationship management.
  • Proficiency or certifications in coaching or standard career assessments preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with conflicting priorities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and Gallup Strengths assessments.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote an inclusive environment.
