About the position

The Director of Center Operations is responsible for overseeing comprehensive institutional services and support for the Johnson Space Center (JSC). This includes managing facilities, logistics, and security operations to ensure the effective functioning of aerospace research and development programs. The role emphasizes strategic planning, facility management, and fostering a culture of diversity and safety within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct the planning, design, and construction of Center facilities, including restoration and modernization efforts.
  • Oversee all JSC real property activities, including accounting, master planning, and space utilization.
  • Direct logistics services, including supply, transportation, and equipment management.
  • Manage facility development and long-range planning for JSC's Construction of Facilities program.
  • Provide management and technical direction for facility maintenance, construction, and utility operations.
  • Administer the JSC Export Services Team and ensure compliance with U.S. Export Regulations.
  • Establish and communicate export policies and process requirements for the JSC community.
  • Oversee specialized facilities maintenance and installation operations, including budgeting and implementation.
  • Deliver protective services and security functions, ensuring comprehensive security programs are in place.
  • Ensure a safe working environment and prioritize employee safety training and instructions.
  • Promote a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, and innovation within the organization.

Requirements

  • Progressively responsible supervisory/leadership experience, typically obtained at the GS-15 level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing multi-faceted organizations, including engineering and operations.
  • Experience in developing and executing strategic planning processes aligned with organizational missions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in environmental programs and protective services.
  • Knowledge of logistics support services and mission support operations.
