The Director of CFO Services at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) plays a pivotal role in working with private equity-held portfolio companies to deliver solutions that enhance value preservation and generation. The primary objective is to improve transparency regarding key business drivers and performance metrics, ultimately supporting the increase of cash flow and EBITDA. This position involves hands-on engagement with clients to ensure that portfolio companies have credible financial plans and the capability to execute them effectively, thereby achieving desired financial outcomes. CFO Services encompasses several key areas, including Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization, Strategic Analytics & Planning, Performance Measurement & Management, Business Transformation, and Auxiliary Services such as Accounting Remediation. The Director will be responsible for hypothesis and scope development, connecting with clients to facilitate information gathering, guiding client interviews, and ensuring that all relevant data is considered. This role requires defining the types of analyses necessary to validate assumptions and ensuring that these analyses are executed completely, accurately, and in a timely manner. In terms of project management, the Director will lead components of projects that involve multiple service lines and will also manage smaller projects independently. Proactive management of client expectations is crucial, as is the ability to minimize risks and negative impacts on projects. The Director will develop straightforward, actionable plans and lead individual workstreams, designing initiatives that generate cash and improve EBITDA while optimizing the organizational structure to enhance client value. Anticipating risks and obstacles early, creating contingency plans, and communicating effectively with clients are essential aspects of this role. Leadership is a key expectation, as the Director will leverage industry expertise and prior professional services experience to guide the team and foster innovative and analytical thinking. Accountability for both client and team issues is paramount, as is the ability to build complementary teams that utilize individual talents effectively. Financial acumen is critical, with complete proficiency in financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and accounting treatments being necessary. The Director will identify and drive accountability for P&L and balance sheet outcomes, utilizing various tools and resources to facilitate change management and streamline processes. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in roles related to Accounting, Finance, Financial Due Diligence, Restructuring, Investment Banking, or Private Equity, with a minimum of 12 years in the field. A graduate degree in relevant areas such as accounting, finance, or economics is preferred, along with proficiency in financial models, data analytics, and presentation skills. Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or an MBA are also preferred but not required.
