About the position

The Director of CFO Services at A&M plays a pivotal role in working with private equity-held portfolio companies to deliver solutions that enhance value preservation and generation. The primary objective is to improve transparency regarding key business drivers and performance metrics, ultimately supporting the increase of cash flow and EBITDA. This position involves hands-on engagement with clients to ensure that private equity firms have credible financial plans and the capability to execute them effectively, thereby achieving desired financial outcomes. CFO Services encompasses several critical areas, including Liquidity & Working Capital Optimization, Strategic Analytics & Planning, Performance Measurement & Management, and Business Transformation. Additionally, auxiliary services such as Accounting Remediation are provided to support clients in their financial operations. The Director will be responsible for hypothesis and scope development, connecting with clients to facilitate information gathering, and guiding client interviews to ensure comprehensive data collection. This role requires a deep understanding of industry and functional knowledge to identify business drivers and issues, as well as the ability to develop actionable conclusions from analyses. Project management and implementation are key components of this role. The Director will lead various project components across multiple service lines and manage smaller projects independently. Proactive management of client expectations is essential to minimize risks and negative impacts on projects. The Director will design cash-generating initiatives, optimize organizational structures, and anticipate potential risks, creating contingency plans as necessary. Collaboration with senior management and obtaining buy-in from board members on actionable plans is also a critical aspect of this position. Leadership is a significant expectation for this role, leveraging industry expertise and prior professional services experience to guide the team and foster innovative and analytical thinking. The Director will take accountability for issues identified by both clients and team members, building complementary teams that utilize individual talents effectively. Financial acumen is crucial, with complete proficiency in financial modeling, financial statement analysis, and accounting treatments being required. The Director will drive P&L and balance sheet accountability, utilizing various tools and resources to facilitate change management and streamline processes.

Responsibilities

  • Connect with clients to facilitate information gathering.
  • Guide and facilitate client interviews to ensure all relevant data are considered.
  • Define the type of analyses needed to prove or disprove assumptions.
  • Develop actionable conclusions from analyses.
  • Lead components of projects with multiple service lines and smaller projects independently.
  • Proactively manage client expectations and minimize risks.
  • Design cash-generating initiatives and EBITDA improvements.
  • Anticipate risks and obstacles early on and create contingency plans.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with senior management to obtain buy-in on actionable plans.
  • Leverage industry expertise to guide the team and promote innovative thinking.
  • Take accountability for client and team identified issues.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited 4-year college/university with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics preferred but not required.
  • Over 12 years of experience in Accounting/Finance, Financial Due Diligence, Restructuring, Investment Banking, or Private Equity.
  • Complete proficiency in financial modeling and financial statement analysis.
  • Experience in the role of Controllership, Finance, and Accounting Advisory Services.
  • Strong data analytics and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPA, CFA, MBA, or Master's Degree preferred but not required.
