About the position

The Director - Chief of Staff for Developer Platform Engineering (DPE) at PayPal plays a pivotal role in providing strategic support and operational oversight for the DPE organization and its leadership teams. This position is designed to enhance the operational efficiency of the organization by managing the operating rhythms and liaising with domain leaders on various aspects of day-to-day business operations. Key areas of focus include workforce strategy, investment decision-making, streamlining operations, strategic alignment, stakeholder communications, and employee engagement. The Chief of Staff will also oversee executive presentations, objective and key result management, and long-term organizational strategy. In this role, the Director will act as a vital connector within the organization, ensuring seamless execution and fact-based decision-making. The Chief of Staff will serve as an advisor and confidante to executives, influencing the vision and strategy of the organization. The Developer Platform Engineering organization is responsible for delivering a suite of products, processes, and services that enable PayPal engineers to efficiently push code to production. The Chief of Staff will ensure that the operating model, OKRs, investment plans, and portfolios are designed and implemented to align with the defined strategy. Key responsibilities include managing operating routines that facilitate decision-making and team engagement, executing special projects, and acting as an extension to the broader Business Operations community. The Director will also ensure organizational alignment across business units, track and report on outcomes and metrics, and craft influential executive communications. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working closely with executives in a fast-paced environment, applying strong consultative skills, and thriving in a dynamic, global, fluid, matrix environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage operating routines that facilitate decision-making, autonomy, leadership alignment, and team engagement.
  • Serve as on-the-ground execution for a wide variety of cross-functional executive projects or day-to-day deliverables.
  • Act as an extension to the broader Business Operations community in managing relationships with other BizOps leaders and functions.
  • Ensure alignment across business units and internal within the organization.
  • Work closely with leaders across the organization to develop goals, KPIs/OKRs, and clear roadmaps.
  • Craft influential executive communications across many mediums and summarize business impacts of the organization.
