About the position

The Director of Claims at Trustmark is responsible for overseeing the claims processing organization, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and developing policies to maximize claims payment accuracy. This role drives the strategic direction of the claims function, focusing on innovation, service standards, and compliance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the claims processing organization to ensure timely processing of claims in compliance with regulations.
  • Develop claims adjudication policies and procedures to maximize accuracy of claims payments.
  • Evaluate claims activities for cost-effectiveness and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Drive strategic direction of the claims function, ensuring high standards of service and compliance.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators and metrics for departmental performance.
  • Identify trends and implement plans to improve results and processes.
  • Conduct settlement discussions and mediations as necessary, including travel to negotiate with claimants and legal representatives.
  • Provide sign-off approval for complex or high-dollar claims.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the claims organization.
  • Work with Claims Compliance Liaison to ensure proper interpretation of regulations in claims workflow.
  • Review audit reports for compliance and report findings to leadership.
  • Manage multiple cross-functional projects, assigning resources and implementing schedules to meet project timelines.
  • Analyze savings and track post-implementation results of changes in products, processes, or projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of related experience OR High School Diploma or GED with 10+ years of related experience.
