About the position

The Director, Clinical Operations Planning Lead is a strategic role responsible for overseeing key systems used in the start-up phase of Pfizer clinical trials. This position coordinates project planning and tracking for Study Start Up, Site Operations, and Study Management within Global Study and Site Operations (GSSO). The role involves providing leadership and collaboration across various teams to ensure effective planning and analytics, ultimately aiming to enhance the efficiency and compliance of clinical trial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the Operations Planning team that provides GSSO business support for Planisware and Salesforce tools used as Pfizer clinical study start-up technologies.
  • Responsible for representing the business needs of the GSSO department and functional lines in the creation/maintenance of a best in class technological backbone for the Pfizer clinical study start-up process.
  • Provides cross-functional leadership, direction, and consultancy for clinical study start-up technologies that provide planning and resource management capability.
  • Responsible for providing a planning and resource management consultancy network to the GSS department, maximizing the utility of the clinical start-up technology ecosystem.
  • Strategic leadership of major workstreams across key stakeholder groups to meet evolving business requirements of start-up systems.
  • Responsible for providing an efficient access, training, and support infrastructure to clinical study start-up technology users.
  • Accountable for oversight of CROs for compliance, status, and performance aspects of use of Salesforce and Planisware.
  • Perform expert administrator functions of Salesforce and/or Planisware, implementing mechanisms and controls to maintain their business integrity.
  • Responsible for ongoing partnership with key business stakeholders to build, maintain, and update a suite of planning template libraries that align with business priorities.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture within the Operations Planning team ensuring clinical study startup technologies represent current best practice, intelligence, and process standards.
  • Creates an extensive KPI framework and related goals to monitor and actively enforce compliance with key business rules for the use of clinical study start-up technologies.
  • Responsible for providing a creative and responsive business analytics reporting environment for the GSSO department and key stakeholder groups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Experience of managing projects, deliverables, and individuals across multiple countries within a matrix setting.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in a large international corporation.
  • Extensive global clinical trial/study management experience including knowledge of GCP.
  • Strong Organizational Skills.
  • Strategic and Innovative Thinking.
  • Business Acumen.
  • Project Management Skills.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (MS/MBA, PhD) preferred.
  • Experience managing complex projects and/or a consulting/auditing background within Pfizer are desirable.
