About the position

The Director, Clinical Operations Planning Lead at Pfizer is a strategic role responsible for overseeing key systems used in the start-up phase of clinical trials. This position coordinates project planning and tracking for Study Start Up, Site Operations, and Study Management within the Global Study and Site Operations (GSSO) department. The role involves providing leadership and collaboration across various teams to ensure effective planning and analytics, ultimately aiming to enhance the efficiency and compliance of clinical trial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Operations Planning team providing business support for Planisware and Salesforce tools used in clinical study start-up.
  • Represent the business needs of the GSSO department in creating and maintaining a technological backbone for clinical study start-up processes.
  • Provide cross-functional leadership and consultancy for clinical study start-up technologies.
  • Maximize the utility of clinical start-up technology ecosystem to achieve breakthrough cycle times.
  • Strategically lead major workstreams across key stakeholder groups to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Ensure efficient access, training, and support for clinical study start-up technology users.
  • Oversee CROs for compliance, status, and performance aspects of Salesforce and Planisware usage.
  • Perform expert administrator functions for Salesforce and/or Planisware, maintaining business integrity.
  • Build and maintain planning template libraries that align with business priorities.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture within the Operations Planning team.
  • Create a KPI framework to monitor compliance with business rules for clinical study start-up technologies.
  • Provide a responsive business analytics reporting environment for GSSO and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Experience managing projects and deliverables across multiple countries in a matrix setting.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in a large international corporation.
  • Extensive global clinical trial/study management experience including knowledge of GCP.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strategic and innovative thinking.
  • Business acumen.
  • Project management skills.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree (MS/MBA, PhD) preferred.
  • Experience managing complex projects and/or a consulting/auditing background within Pfizer are desirable.
