The Director of Cloud Engineering will play a pivotal role within the Infrastructure Engineering team at S&P Dow Jones Indices, focusing on the management of network administration for the AWS Cloud environment and a low latency real-time platform utilized for running index applications. This position requires a seasoned engineer who can work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the network infrastructure that underpins SPDJI's real-time infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the high-performance standards required for financial applications. In this role, the Director will design and engineer network solutions in the AWS Cloud, responding to requirements from business stakeholders. They will manage strategic projects aimed at optimizing low latency, high-performance network solutions across various data center locations. The Director will also collaborate with exchanges and vendors to establish network connectivity in shared colocation facilities, ensuring seamless operations. A critical aspect of this position involves high-level analysis and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure, where the Director will respond to network requests and resolve complex issues to minimize operational disruptions. Additionally, the Director will perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including applying patches and hotfixes to address vendor bugs and vulnerabilities. They will monitor system resource utilization and historical trends, conducting capacity planning to ensure the network can handle future demands. The role requires providing technical knowledge to facilitate safe and efficient changes to the network infrastructure, as well as engineering network solutions in AWS and establishing connectivity to data centers.
