About the position

The Director of Cloud Engineering position is designed for a dynamic and talented individual with extensive cloud experience, particularly with Amazon Web Services (AWS), and preferably within the financial services sector. This role presents a unique opportunity to engage with a cutting-edge technical stack characterized by innovative designs and implementations. The primary focus of this position is to foster the growth and retention of exceptional engineers and managers, while also developing, mentoring, and inspiring diverse teams to enhance and scale the organization effectively. In this capacity, the Director will be responsible for driving results within the cloud platform, collaborating closely with engineers and other leaders to construct a reliable, scalable, and secure technology stack that adheres to leading industry practices. The role requires consistent communication and delivery on commitments, as well as the ability to increase team velocity by identifying and removing roadblocks. The Director will also manage a team, ensuring that each member is supported in their professional development and that a positive, high-performing culture is cultivated. The position demands a strong emphasis on inclusivity and diversity, with a proven track record of implementing these values in practice. The Director will need to possess masterful communication skills to effectively convey ideas and information across various internal and external groups at all organizational levels. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, focusing on developing key talent and cultivating positive, high-performing cultures.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering with a strong understanding of large-scale computing solutions, primarily AWS.
  • A people-focused leadership style with a track record of motivating and inspiring individuals and teams.
  • Masterful communication skills to convey ideas and information effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to get into details when necessary to support execution and remove roadblocks.
  • Understanding of the value of inclusivity and diversity with a track record of implementing these values.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and influencing skills.
