About the position

The Director of Cloud Engineering at TriumphX is responsible for overseeing a team of Cloud and Database engineers, ensuring the stability and strategic management of cloud infrastructure and services. This leadership role combines technical expertise with strategic oversight, focusing on compliance with US regulatory standards while executing departmental and company objectives in collaboration with other IT leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a distributed team of Cloud Engineers and Database Engineers to drive delivery excellence and ensure high-quality outcomes.
• Cultivate strong internal relationships and serve as an advocate and subject matter expert for cloud infrastructure and services.
• Develop and maintain a clear strategy and roadmap for cloud infrastructure and services, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Work closely with Cloud Provider and technology vendor-partners to ensure alignment on execution strategies, timelines, and deliverables.
• Establish metrics and reporting mechanisms for cloud health, performance, and costs, making recommendations for enhancements to senior leadership.
• Utilize Scrum or Kanban practices to manage the team's work and act as Product Owner for IT-wide and company-wide projects.
• Assist in determining the root cause of problems and implement appropriate solutions.
• Manage responses and resolutions of escalated Level III support requests for Cloud and Database Engineering.
• Engage with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into actionable cloud solutions.
• Manage execution of operations support tasks needed to maintain cloud infrastructure and services.
• Perform staff administration and leadership including hiring, monitoring, mentoring, and annual reviews.
• Be available during non-production hours for system upgrades and implementation, and be on call 24x7 in case of emergencies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years related work experience required; 7-10 years preferred.
• At least 2 years spent as a leader supervising technical staff.
• Experience establishing a Cloud Foundation on AWS or transforming existing infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of AWS Well-Architected framework, HashiCorp stack, event-driven architecture principles, relational and non-relational databases, cloud networking and security, ITIL practices, and Agile methodologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with operations management software.
