About the position

The Director of Cloud FinOps at Optum is responsible for optimizing cloud usage and costs across the organization. This role involves developing strategies for cloud commitment, forecasting, and maximizing the value of cloud investments. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure effective communication and execution of cloud cost-saving initiatives, ultimately contributing to improved health outcomes through technology.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technology/cloud usage expert, providing insights on cloud cost reporting mechanisms and usage strategies.
• Develop and implement cloud commitment strategies to maximize UHG's cloud position.
• Establish forecasting methodologies for cloud applications and assess the impact of technology changes on forecasts.
• Define strategies to mitigate forecast gaps and manage P&L impacts.
• Partner with CIO organizations and cloud teams to achieve cost savings outcomes.
• Create clear and actionable communication materials for stakeholders.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Expertise in Google Cloud Platform and AWS.
• Strong understanding of cloud usage reporting and forecasting.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud commitment strategies and vendor management.
• Familiarity with financial modeling and P&L management.
