About the position
The Director of Cloud Platform Engineering at Panasonic Avionics Corporation is responsible for leading the cloud platform strategy, DevSecOps practices, and engineering teams. This role requires exceptional leadership, communication, and project management skills, along with hands-on experience in cloud infrastructure and team management. The director will oversee the development of cloud solutions that enhance product development and business efficiency, while fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and innovation within the teams.
Responsibilities
- Create and communicate a vision for how Cloud enables product development and business efficiency.
- Sponsor and support cloud governance initiatives, establishing standards, cost monitoring, and security/compliance efforts.
- Identify and prioritize technical initiatives to align with business goals.
- Manage budget planning and oversight for all software development teams.
- Act as a mentor for other technical leaders and establish a strong bench of future leaders.
- Recruit, develop, and manage team members to build a pipeline of top talent.
- Provide technical leadership for cloud infrastructure standards, governance, operations, and DevSecOps practices.
- Interface with other business units to establish common tools, workflows, best practices, and standards.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Electrical/Computer/Computer Science Engineering required.
- 10+ years of software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of management experience, directly supervising and mentoring managers and teams.
- 5+ years of experience managing and leading cloud platform or cloud engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of demonstrated ability in DevSecOps, Infrastructure Delivery, and technical operations.
- Experience leading Architecture/Principal level engineers.
- Extensive experience working in Cloud Native environments, specifically AWS.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with multi-account and multi-region systems architecture and best practices.
- Hands-on experience with modern programming languages.
- Proven experience operating at a senior level software engineering position with a broad range of responsibilities.
