About the position

The Director of Communications - Civic Engagement at Humana is a pivotal role within the Corporate Communications team, responsible for developing and executing communication strategies that support the company's civic engagement initiatives and overall business objectives. This position involves acting as a strategic advisor, leading initiatives that enhance public awareness of Humana's civic activities, and mentoring a team of communication professionals. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to foster positive public perception and ensure effective communication across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies supporting Humana's civic engagement and enterprise impact.
  • Act as a strategic communications advisor for corporate functions supporting enterprise civic engagement.
  • Lead and mentor a team of 3 communication professionals, providing guidance and support.
  • Partner with External Communications AVP to align external communications with corporate strategy.
  • Lead the creation of the Humana Impact Report in partnership with the ESG Steering Committee.
  • Oversee the creation of compelling content for social media, thought leadership, and national partnerships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets to ensure positive coverage of Humana's civic engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to support public perception and communication efforts.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience with civic communications, ESG, Corporate Impact, crisis communication, and/or public speaking.
  • Proficiency in using communication tools and software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of integrated communications planning and measurement.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
