The Communications Director for the CEO at Dow Jones is a pivotal role responsible for shaping and executing the communications strategy for the CEO. This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President (SVP) and Head of Communications and collaborates closely with the SVP of Strategic Initiatives and the Chief of Staff. The primary focus of this role is to develop comprehensive communications materials that reflect the CEO's voice and align with the strategic priorities of the company. The director will oversee all aspects of CEO communications, including external communications, media appearances, employee communications, briefing documents, and social media engagement. In this role, the Communications Director will draft and manage talking points, statements, and content for various CEO engagements, such as media interviews, employee meetings, and thought leadership opportunities. The director will also be responsible for creating briefing documents to prepare the CEO for both internal and external speaking engagements, ensuring that the CEO is well-equipped to represent Dow Jones effectively. Additionally, the director will write and edit op-eds, speeches, and letters from the publisher, as well as develop a monthly newsletter from the CEO to keep employees informed and engaged. Collaboration is key in this position, as the director will work closely with the broader communications team to manage issues and enhance the CEO's media relations. The role also involves identifying high-value speaking opportunities for the CEO and maintaining a consistent flow of communications to employees based on company milestones and successes. Furthermore, the director will play a crucial role in managing and enhancing the CEO's profile across social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn, to strengthen the CEO's presence and influence in the industry.
