About the position

The Director, Content Marketing & Education at GuideStone is a pivotal role that focuses on driving the organization's education and content strategies. This position is essential in maximizing GuideStone's unique market position and ensuring that potential and existing members, as well as ministry partners, understand the value of the services offered. The Director will lead teams in creating impactful content, thought leadership, and educational resources aimed at enhancing financial security and resilience for those served by GuideStone. In this role, the Director will set a strategic vision for producing original, engaging, and informative content across various channels, including owned, earned, and paid media. The position also involves sharing compelling stories from members and ministry partners, thereby fostering a deeper connection with the audience. The Director is expected to be a leader who inspires a high-performing and engaged team of marketing professionals, driving initiatives that enhance member loyalty, satisfaction, and lifetime value through effective communication and personalized experiences. The Director will be responsible for the planning, development, execution, and optimization of a unified content and education strategy that positions GuideStone as a faith-aligned expert. This includes creating new content, revising existing materials, and curating third-party content to align with the organization's overall marketing and brand strategy. The role requires a data-driven approach, utilizing insights to analyze content performance and optimize strategies accordingly. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with subject matter experts to build thought leadership across various topics, ensuring that the content produced is relevant and impactful. This position also involves direct supervisory responsibilities, including overseeing the performance of assigned staff, which includes the Manager of Content Marketing and the Senior Manager of Marketing. Building relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the planning, development, execution and optimization of a unified content, education and thought leadership strategy.
  • Drives the educational strategy, content creation and distribution across GS.org and other mediums.
  • Creates new content, revises current content, and curates third-party content for various initiatives.
  • Enhances member and member partner loyalty, satisfaction, and lifetime value through effective communication.
  • Develops annual and quarterly marketing and content plans based on insights and enterprise needs.
  • Utilizes data-driven insights to analyze content performance and optimize strategies.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to build thought leadership across topics.
  • Maintains awareness of GuideStone's audience types and business needs to guide content strategies.
  • Measures and drives demonstrable business results and ROI through content marketing and education.
  • Leads and develops a high-performing team of marketing professionals.
  • Responsible for the full scope of supervision, including reviewing the performance of assigned staff.
  • Builds relationships with key stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Must be a member of a faith-aligned church.
  • Industry experience in financial services or insurance is preferred.
  • Advanced professional writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex ideas and data clearly.
  • Ability to develop and manage workflow processes to meet deadlines.
  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills.
  • Passionate about GuideStone's purpose and ability to drive brand impact.
  • Proficient skills in MS Office and appropriate GuideStone system applications.
  • Must maintain complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.
