About the position

The Director of Content Marketing at Travelers Companies, Inc. is a pivotal role within the Content Marketing Team, which is composed of innovative thinkers and dynamic storytellers dedicated to executing the company's content strategy. This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of content strategies tailored for specific business areas. The Director will manage the creation and delivery of content marketing initiatives across various mediums and channels, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives. This includes overseeing the work of freelance writers, editors, and designers to produce engaging content that resonates with target audiences. In this role, the Director will be tasked with developing a diverse range of content types, including articles, landing pages, infographics, videos, webinars, podcasts, and long-form written pieces. The position requires a strong understanding of SEO best practices to ensure that the content ranks well in search engines. The Director will also stay updated on the latest technologies and trends in content marketing, making recommendations for enhancements to maintain the relevance and effectiveness of the content produced. Additionally, the role involves managing project budgets and ensuring compliance with established design and brand standards. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field, along with 5-8 years of experience in content and digital marketing. They should have advanced knowledge of content marketing strategies, project management skills, and the ability to think creatively and strategically. The Director will play a crucial role in shaping the content marketing efforts of Travelers, contributing to the company's mission of delivering exceptional products and services to its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and delivery of content strategies for content marketing initiatives across different mediums and channels for assigned business area(s).
  • Collaborate with marketing partners to ensure content aligns with business goals and strategies and delivers on their objectives.
  • Manage freelance writers, editors, and designers to create compelling content.
  • Manage individual project budgets.
  • Develop content inclusive of articles, landing pages, infographics, videos, webinars, podcasts, and long-form written content.
  • Review and refine content developed by less experienced employees.
  • Utilize a wide array of content and SEO applications, software, and tools.
  • Ensure content produced ranks well in search.
  • Stay abreast of cutting-edge technology and make recommendations on potential enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with established design, written, and/or multimedia content and brand standards and techniques consistent with marketing objectives and recommend adjustments to maintain relevancy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing or related field.
  • Typically has 5-8 years of content and digital marketing experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of content marketing strategy and best practices.
  • General knowledge of SEO best practices.
  • General knowledge of the insurance industry, company products/services, and marketing strategies to develop company digital channel content and maximize traffic to sites.
  • Advanced ability to think strategically, creatively, and outside the box in developing designs for marketing efforts.
  • Advanced project management skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • General analytics, data visualization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Five years of related content and digital marketing experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the content development, copy, production, and media planning functions and the ability to integrate and coordinate internal and external resources.
