About the position

The Director of Contract Manufacturing & New Product Scale-up is responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of product scale-up to support new product launches at both owned manufacturing sites and third-party contract manufacturers. This role focuses on balancing network efficiencies with profitability and return on capital, serving as the primary contact for establishing and managing relationships with contract manufacturers to ensure timely delivery of products at the required quality and cost.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute product scale-up for new product launches at owned manufacturing sites and contract manufacturers.
  • Establish and manage relationships with contract manufacturers, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate strategic and tactical activities for successful contract/toll manufacturing relationships, including selection, qualification, and technical transfer.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to various functional teams.
  • Partner with Supply Planning and Procurement to manage ongoing supply from all manufacturers, ensuring safety, service, quality, and cost standards are met.
  • Evaluate and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in safety, quality, service, and cost.
  • Manage inventories of raw materials and finished goods to ensure security of supply at third-party manufacturers.
  • Support project teams in the Stage-Gate Process for new product launches, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Lead the commercialization phase for new product launches, optimizing workflow and defining roles and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering/manufacturing roles in a process manufacturing environment, or a minimum of 12 years comparable work experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Experience in qualifying tollers/contract manufacturers, including technical and quality evaluation, tech transfer, and supply contract negotiations.
  • Strong project management experience with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Financial literacy and business acumen.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
