About the position

The Director of Corporate Development at L3Harris plays a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of the company, focusing on supporting strategic growth initiatives. This position involves developing and implementing portfolio management frameworks, executing acquisition and divestiture transactions, engaging in venture investing, and establishing strategic partnerships. The role requires strong analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and effective communication to support the company's mission-critical needs in the defense industry.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business and strategy teams to track and identify potential acquisition targets and transactions or partnerships aligned with L3Harris' strategic priorities.
  • Lead the initial acquisition process, including confidentiality agreements, initial due diligence, preliminary financial modeling, transaction valuation, and term sheet preparation.
  • Oversee the execution phase of the acquisition or divestiture process, coordinating with business segments, legal teams, external advisors, and functional due diligence leads.
  • Address post-closing activities, including post-close adjustment determination, escrow releases, dispute resolution, and warranty insurance expiration dates.
  • Support integration and separation activities in partnership with business segment, sector, and division leadership.
  • Build exceptional relationships across business segments and functional teams.
  • Advise business executives on financial implications and risks related to key transaction issues and strategic M&A decisions.
  • Maintain awareness of Aerospace & Defense industry trends, competitors, disruptive technologies, and M&A transactions.
  • Engage with investment bankers on inbound acquisition opportunities and exchange M&A ideas.
  • Assist in managing various minority equity investments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business/finance/accounting, economics, analytics, engineering, or related quantitative field with 10 years prior experience, or a Graduate Degree with 8 years prior experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of prior related experience in corporate development.
  • 8 years' experience in corporate development, investment banking, advisory services, venture capital, private equity, or management consulting.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA or Legal degree preferred.
  • Aerospace and Defense industry experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Very strong MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint skills.
  • Results-oriented with an initiative mentality.
  • Demonstrates a highly analytical work ethic/approach.
  • Fast learner with the ability to self-manage and complete assignments on time.
  • Highly collaborative team player and leader.
