About the position

GQ is seeking a dynamic and experienced video director to lead creative production efforts, shaping the visual narrative of flagship series, long-form content, and social videos. This role is essential for maintaining the brand's high-quality standards and visual identity, while managing the entire production lifecycle from pre-production to post-production.

Responsibilities

• Direct flagship series and pilots, ensuring alignment with GQ's creative vision and audience expectations.
• Be involved in the entire production lifecycle for long-form and social video content, including brainstorming, storyboarding, directing, and post-production.
• Collaborate with teams to create and implement visual tags, title sequences, and signature elements for GQ shows.
• Develop comprehensive series bibles and reference decks for major productions, outlining creative vision and style guides.
• Lead the creation of proof of concept footage to showcase proposed ideas to stakeholders.
• Source and screen top-tier crew and resources for productions, ensuring precision on set.
• Manage budgets and timelines, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within financial constraints.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering a supportive and creative environment.
• Maintain a strategic focus on how each video impacts KPIs and adapt quickly to changing demands.

Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience in video directing for a major publication or agency.
• Strong portfolio showcasing work in celebrity-driven long-form content and social videos.
• Proven track record of managing complex productions from inception to completion.
• Exceptional leadership skills to inspire and guide a creative team.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
• Experience in developing visual branding and producing reference decks.
• Ability to shoot and edit test footage for new concepts.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
