About the position

The Creative Services Director is a pivotal role within Nexstar Media Group, responsible for developing and leading the overall marketing strategy of the station. This position involves designing promotions that align with the strategic objectives of the station, ensuring that all marketing efforts are cohesive and effective. The Creative Services Director provides leadership for the promotions team, overseeing the recruitment and development of team members to foster a high-performing environment. This role requires planning and directing promotions and station events, as well as developing and executing promotional strategies that enhance the station's competitiveness in the market. In addition to strategic oversight, the Creative Services Director is responsible for preparing budgets, approving expenditures, and tracking revenue-generating marketing and promotional events and contests that occur on-air, online, and on-site. The role also involves creating and reviewing operational records and reports to assess the efficacy of promotions, ensuring that all initiatives are data-driven and results-oriented. Collaboration is key, as the Creative Services Director works closely with the Sales, News, and Programming teams to create client promotions and promotional proposals, maintaining the brand identity of the stations and website. The position also entails supervising local commercial production, maintaining relationships with community partners, and coordinating the promotion of and participation in community events. The Creative Services Director is responsible for maintaining a calendar of community events, station initiatives, and special projects, overseeing the station's on-air graphics packages and related equipment. Furthermore, this role includes working with CBS and The CW to promote network programming and execute co-branding opportunities, ensuring that the station remains a competitive player in the media landscape. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the station's goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the overall marketing strategy of the station.
  • Design promotions to achieve marketing objectives.
  • Provide leadership for the promotions team and manage recruitment and development of team members.
  • Plan and direct promotions and station events.
  • Develop and execute promotional strategies to enhance station competitiveness.
  • Prepare budgets and approve budget expenditures.
  • Plan, execute, and track revenue-generating marketing and promotional events and contests.
  • Create and review operational records and reports to assess the efficacy of promotions.
  • Create client promotions and promotional proposals with Sales, News, and Programming teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Five years' experience in media promotions preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience guiding, directing, and motivating subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them.
  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment.
  • Talent for writing, videography, and graphic design, with proficiency in related equipment and software.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (specifically Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, and Illustrator).
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
