About the position

The Director of Creative Strategy and Integration is a pivotal role within the Creative Strategy and Integration team, which is part of the Visual Storytelling division of ESPN Creative Studio. This position is responsible for shaping the strategic creative vision and execution plan for the Creative Studio's diverse portfolio of work. The Director will play a crucial role in creating and optimizing innovative workflows across various platforms, including digital, streaming, broadcast, and marketing. This strategic and managerial role requires a deep integration of data, analytics, creative research, and streaming priorities to enhance the overall effectiveness of the team's initiatives. In this role, the Director will fully own all user experience (UX) research initiatives across marketing, linear, digital, and web/app platforms, regularly presenting findings to stakeholders. The Director will also participate in performance report-outs to gain a comprehensive understanding of performance metrics, identifying opportunities for case studies and collaborative discussions among Visual Storytelling teams. A key aspect of this position is to lead cultural change within the organization, fostering optimism and collaboration across teams to set priorities and drive results. The Director will work closely with Disney partners to ensure that artwork is optimized for various platforms and content. Additionally, the role involves managing relationships with external design production vendors, overseeing onboarding, invoicing, and day-to-day project management. This position requires a blend of strategic thinking, creativity, and strong leadership skills to guide the team in achieving its goals and enhancing the overall user experience across ESPN's platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Fully own all UX research initiatives for marketing, linear, digital and web/app and present findings on a regular basis.
  • Participate in performance report-outs in the marketing space to deeply understand performance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for case studies and discovery and bring Visual Storytelling teams together to discuss process and findings.
  • Lead with optimism and work across teams to set priorities and drive results.
  • Work closely with Disney partners to ensure artwork travelling across platforms is optimized for that platform and content.
  • Manage relationships with external design production vendors, including supporting onboarding, invoicing and day-to-day projects.

Requirements

  • 10 years experience in digital media, including at least 4 years in people management.
  • Demonstrated experience with user research, running tests, gathering and presenting data.
  • Ability to analyze and make strategic recommendations based on a variety of analytics and constantly evolving priorities.
  • Very comfortable running large-scale meetings, creating and giving presentations.
  • Experience working with production vendors, including DCO.

Nice-to-haves

  • Demonstrated ability to present and discuss metrics and discovery in a digestible and accessible way.
  • Experience in digital marketing, particularly setting campaign priorities.
  • Understanding of performance metrics and creative research.
  • Deep experience with a variety of project management and analytics tools.
