About the position

The Director of Creative Strategy and Solutions at the University of Rochester is responsible for developing and implementing the creative vision of the university's brand. This role oversees all aspects of digital and traditional creative strategies, ensuring alignment with the university's strategic goals. The director leads the creative team, manages projects from concept to execution, and drives innovation in marketing and communications efforts across the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and leads the University of Rochester's creative vision to achieve marketing and communication objectives.
  • Crystallizes the creative direction of the brand in partnership with leaders across the Communications team.
  • Implements enterprise guidelines and design systems to ensure consistency and quality across platforms.
  • Collaborates with marketing and communications teams to develop creative and content solutions for initiatives and campaigns.
  • Oversees the creative process from concept to execution, providing direction for production staff.
  • Supervises the creative and multimedia teams, establishing goals and processes for creative excellence.
  • Manages budgets for marketing and communications plans and campaigns, ensuring they are met.
  • Develops standard processes for creative workflow, including concept development and production.
  • Manages video and photography production processes, including storyboarding and editing.
  • Ensures all content conforms to accessibility policies and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration or related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 15 years of relevant and progressive experience required; 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education with a focus on creative strategy development preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to lead teams, vendors, and consultants effectively.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and provide data and market intelligence required.
  • Strong management and organizational skills with attention to detail required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with creative design campaigns preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in writing and editing content preferred.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and consent authorization process preferred.
