About the position

The Director of the CUSO Branch Inspection Program at Royal Bank of Canada is responsible for overseeing and governing the inspection programs of various branches, including those of RBC Capital Markets LLC and City National Securities, Inc. This role involves establishing a centralized reporting framework, maintaining inspection standards, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The director will also manage resources, participate in industry discussions, and collaborate with various teams to enhance inspection tracking and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and enforce Branch Inspection Program Standards/Policies.
• Oversee updates to branch questionnaires and review scripts for both platforms.
• Establish alignment with Enterprise Standards for the codification of issues vs. exceptions.
• Establish a framework of oversight for entry and remediation of RegComp issues.
• Oversee overall resource utilization for the branch program and assist with special projects.
• Escalate items for attention to the Head of BD Shared Services and relevant stakeholders.
• Participate in industry roundtables to ensure alignment with peers and regulations.
• Collaborate with the Securities Registrations & Licensing team on the new registrations surveillance system.
• Assist in the development of centralized reporting to demonstrate branch inspection progress and findings.
• Manage risk assessments to determine inspection eligibility and requirements.

Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Knowledge of FINRA (particularly Rule 3110), SEC, and MSRB expectations, rules, and regulations.
• Familiarity with Capital Markets and/or Wealth Management products and strategies.
• Experience managing multiple workstreams simultaneously.
• Experience in people management.
