About the position

The Director Customer Logistics is responsible for managing operations, safety, financial performance, and customer relations across multiple warehouse locations. This role focuses on deploying LEAN and Continuous Improvement strategies, expanding business with existing customers, and participating in business development for new clients. The position oversees significant operating revenue and leads a team of logistics managers to ensure operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with customers at a regional or corporate level based on operational execution and value creation.
  • Forecast, plan, manage and ensure assigned accounts meet defined financial targets.
  • Manage operations to meet or exceed internal and external Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify expansion opportunities with current customers and participate in business development activities for new customers.
  • Monitor and uphold a safety culture that meets or exceeds annual safety targets.
  • Oversee the deployment of Ryder's Lean Guiding Principles and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Hire, train, guide and supervise Group Logistics Managers (GLM) I and II.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain or related field or an additional two (2) years related experience required.
  • Eight (8) years or more Logistics/supply chain experience in multiple locations required.
  • Five (5) years or more demonstrated experience developing and implementing complete logistics solutions required.
  • Six (6) years or more managing, leading and developing direct reports required.
  • Five (5) years or more P&L responsibility including forecasting and managing financial targets required.
  • Four (4) years or more managing customer KPIs required.
  • Four (4) years or more managing customer relationship and interaction required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years or more prior experience implementing a LEAN work environment preferred.
  • Some sales experience preferred.
  • Three (3) years or more experience providing customer and senior level management presentations preferred.
