As a Director of Data Architecture in Digital Foundation Architecture at Fidelity Investments, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the data architectures and technology patterns that drive key investment-oriented data management capabilities. This position requires you to collaborate closely with business leads and technology product teams across various business units, fostering positive relationships to ensure alignment and effective execution of data strategies. Your deep expertise in engineering, technical design, and database management will be essential as you coach and mentor engineering associates, guiding them in the adoption of industry-standard methodologies and best practices. In this role, you will be responsible for performing research on industry trends and leading tool evaluation efforts, including proof of concepts (POC). Working within an agile structure, you will partner with other Fidelity business, architecture, and product leaders to establish standards for your area, influencing strategic decisions and work priorities based on your extensive experience. We are looking for a dedicated leader who can effectively influence engineers and product leaders, adapt to changing requirements, and collaborate with multi-functional teams to deliver governed common data management capabilities. Successful candidates will possess a depth of knowledge in architecture, enabling them to translate business objectives into technology solutions. You will have experience with a wide array of architecture patterns, including architecting highly performant database systems, event-driven architectures, APIs, and security architectures. Familiarity with cloud architecture patterns, particularly AWS, is highly desired. You will also be responsible for delivering architecture artifacts, communication materials, and status updates, driving the data architecture technology vision to support the next generation of investment data platforms. A strong understanding of the financial industry and data management concepts will be advantageous, as will a passion for technology and a proactive approach to investigating and incorporating new technologies to meet business needs.
