About the position

The Sr. Facility Manager - Critical Environments at JLL is responsible for overseeing the operations of assigned data center facilities, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves managing a team of facility management professionals and maintaining relationships with third-party vendors. The position focuses on optimizing facility performance, implementing maintenance programs, and developing long-term strategies to support the digital economy.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the data center facility, including power distribution, cooling systems, fire suppression, security systems, and environmental controls.
  • Ensure all critical systems are functioning optimally at all times.
  • Develop and implement long-term facility strategies aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and optimize the facility.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program for the data center.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff or contractors to execute maintenance activities with minimal impact on operations.
  • Oversee and coordinate major facility projects, including expansions and equipment upgrades.
  • Develop project plans, manage timelines, budgets, and resources for successful project execution.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
  • Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within the data center facility and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Engage and manage relationships with vendors and service providers.
  • Implement and manage an effective environmental monitoring system in the data center.
  • Continuously monitor and forecast the data center's power, cooling, and space requirements.
  • Ensure the data center facility meets all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage the data center's operational budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and adherence to financial targets.
  • Lead a team of facility operations staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Effectively communicate with various stakeholders, providing updates on facility operations and projects.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience working in a data center/critical facility, including UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgears.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 10+ years related work experience.
  • 7+ years supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
