About the position

The Data Governance Director is a pivotal leader within the Data Governance Office (DGO) at CBRE Investment Management, tasked with the mission of unlocking value through data. This role is essential for guiding the maturity growth of the Data Governance Program and expanding the impact of the DGO Center of Excellence. The Director will collaborate globally across various business units to deliver actionable recommendations that enhance business data management effectiveness while advancing data governance capabilities. In this capacity, the Director will manage and mentor a team of Data Governance Officers, extending the team's influence and impact across the organization. Responsibilities include overseeing data domain councils to enforce the integration of data governance policies, standards, and frameworks, while reporting insights and trends to executive sponsors. The Director will also serve as a player-coach, overseeing the mapping and modeling of business processes and procedures with a focus on data flow generation and maintenance. The insights generated by the team will contribute to the immediate enrichment of the Investment Management's data intellectual property, including the Data Catalog, Business Glossary, Reference Data, and Data Quality, facilitating the discovery, comprehension, availability, and trust of data. The role requires strong relationship-building skills to cultivate a firm-wide atmosphere of data stewardship, advancing data literacy and driving data governance adoption. The Director will implement readiness assessments to evaluate current performance and effectiveness, culture, and capacity to adopt change, reporting on gaps to target states and recommending necessary uplifts for change adoption. Additionally, the Director will leverage experience to break down barriers and silos, identifying and accelerating strategic opportunities across data domains. Serving as a trusted advisor to domain data councils and senior leadership, the Director will ensure that data governance frameworks are embedded and that data-driven project prioritization is instituted. The Director will also direct root cause analysis of critical data concerns, producing and deploying remediation action plans focused on risk reduction and value creation. Expanding the impact of the DGO Center of Excellence will involve developing and deploying a communication strategy that increases awareness and usage of DGO collateral. Evaluating the effectiveness and currency of the data governance program will be based on team performance statistics, program metrics, and organization-wide feedback.
