About the position

The Director, Data Governance & Master Data Management at Gallagher is responsible for overseeing the organization's data governance and master data management initiatives. This role involves developing and implementing frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance. The director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data standards and drive best practices in data governance, while also leading master data management activities such as data modeling and quality management. This hybrid position encourages flexible work arrangements and is based in Rolling Meadows, IL.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage data governance and master data management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce data standards and quality rules.
  • Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, including charters and data dictionaries.
  • Establish and maintain data governance processes such as stewardship and issue resolution.
  • Define and implement data governance best practices aligned with industry standards.
  • Manage master data management activities, including data modeling and mapping.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to implement and maintain master data management systems.
  • Develop and deliver data governance training programs for employees.
  • Monitor and measure data quality and governance metrics, providing insights to stakeholders.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure data privacy and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in strategic planning and budgeting for data governance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information management, or related field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 10 years of proven experience in data governance and master data management roles.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles and frameworks.
  • Experience in developing and implementing data governance policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of master data management concepts, including data modeling and quality management.
  • Experience with master data management systems and tools.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and quality management techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies and project management practices.
