About the position

The Director of Data Governance and Strategy at Sonepar Management Group is a strategic leadership role focused on establishing and maintaining a robust data governance framework. This position is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of accurate and actionable data across the organization, driving business success through effective governance and collaboration with IT and security teams. The role involves overseeing the analyst community, promoting data literacy, and leading strategic data initiatives to align with business goals.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive data governance policies encompassing data quality, security, privacy, and compliance.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure data integrity and mitigate potential security risks.
• Create a clear roadmap for data initiatives that align with business goals, setting short-term and long-term objectives.
• Lead the development of Power BI datasets and dashboards, providing training to stakeholders.
• Oversee both direct and indirect oversight of the analyst community, developing certification requirements and tailored training programs.
• Promote a culture of data literacy by educating employees on governance policies and best practices.
• Leverage knowledge of the citizen development model to empower non-technical users to create data solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years in data governance, data management, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in Power BI solutions.
• Proven leadership experience managing direct and indirect teams and projects.
• Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (NIST, GDPR, CCPA).
• Excellent project management skills.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Information Management Professional).
• Familiarity with the citizen development model.
