About the position

The Director, Data Governance & Quality is responsible for leading and managing data governance and quality initiatives across TriNet. This role ensures that data is treated as a strategic asset, aligning with the company's goals and regulatory requirements. The director will develop and implement comprehensive strategies, enforce policies, and oversee data quality management processes while collaborating with various stakeholders to promote data governance awareness throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance and quality strategy.
  • Lead the Data Governance Council and collaborate with key stakeholders to establish data governance policies and standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the data governance and quality team.
  • Define and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance frameworks and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the creation and maintenance of data dictionaries, data catalogs, and metadata management.
  • Develop and implement data quality management processes.
  • Monitor and report on data quality metrics and KPIs.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with business units, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure data governance and quality initiatives are aligned with business objectives.
  • Promote data governance and quality awareness and best practices across the organization.
  • Communicate data governance and quality goals, progress, and outcomes to senior management.
  • Identify data-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure data governance and quality practices support data privacy and security requirements.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a small team of data governance and quality professionals.
  • Foster a culture of data stewardship and accountability within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Typically 10+ years experience in data governance, data quality, or a related field.
  • Typically 5+ years experience leading a team.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing data governance and quality programs.
  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, implementing frameworks, data quality management, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, including data integration and master data management.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with data governance and quality tools and technologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience in a specific industry (e.g., finance, healthcare, HR) with relevant regulatory knowledge a plus.
  • Certification in data governance or data quality (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) preferred.
