About the position

The Director of Data Governance at Mastercard is responsible for overseeing and developing data governance processes, standards, and policies to enhance data practices across the organization. This role involves creating and supporting a data stewardship program, managing data governance capabilities, and ensuring compliance with established data standards. The Director will collaborate with data owners and the Data Strategy and Management Team to identify control points and manage data-related issues, while also serving as a change agent to promote the importance of data governance within the company.

Responsibilities

• Develop a data governance process and assist in the formation of an enterprise data governance program.
• Partner with data owners to create an enterprise data stewardship practice.
• Manage a work queue of issues for new and ongoing data governance efforts.
• Provide governance subject matter expertise across projects and the data stewardship community.
• Facilitate forums to communicate governance practices and improve data literacy.
• Serve as a data-driven change agent to influence the organization on data asset preservation.

Requirements

• Familiarity with industry best practices for data governance.
• Superior understanding of Mastercard data sets (Transaction, Consumer, etc.).
• Knowledge of driving organizational change for data governance.
• Experience in establishing and enforcing standards, processes, policies, and procedures for data quality.
• Demonstrated ability to understand complex information product constructs and databases.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with experience in relationship building and influencing.
• Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
