About the position

The Director, Data Management and Analytics at CCSA is responsible for enhancing educational outcomes for California charter students by developing and overseeing the data infrastructure that supports insights and decision-making. This role involves ensuring accurate data collection, processing, and analysis from various sources, including the California Department of Education, to improve data accessibility and quality for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage the data infrastructure that powers CCSA's insights and decision-making.
  • Design and implement robust, scalable data pipelines and a high-performance data platform.
  • Ensure data quality and governance, and automate processes for efficiency.
  • Conduct data mining, cleansing, and in-depth analysis of quantitative data related to California charter schools.
  • Generate comprehensive reports and visually engaging data visualizations based on analytical findings.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business users to understand their data needs and provide technical guidance.
  • Establish and enforce data quality standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Automate data pipeline tasks and implement monitoring mechanisms to proactively address issues.
  • Maintain awareness of state and local policy developments impacting charter schools and communicate these implications effectively.
  • Support CCSA sponsored events and activities as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Data Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 5 years of professional experience in data management and analytics.
  • Experience with database management systems such as Oracle, mySQL, AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake, or Azure.
  • Proficiency in SQL (preferred) and Python programming.
  • Experience in ETL processes including data cleaning, normalization, and enrichment.
  • Knowledge of data security and encryption practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Certifications in data engineering, cloud computing, or specific technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
  • Experience in data modeling techniques such as dimensional modeling and schema-on-read/write.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.

  • Salary range of $75,429 - $87,661 annually based on experience.
