About the position

The Sr. Director of Data Protection, Compliance and Governance Operations is a pivotal role within Equifax's Global Data Office, responsible for overseeing the implementation of data compliance and governance controls across core data platforms. This position focuses on enhancing data protection strategies, ensuring adherence to privacy regulations, and driving continuous improvement through innovative technology solutions. The role requires collaboration with various teams to optimize data governance operations and foster a culture of compliance and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement business processes and tooling for efficient management and oversight of compliance with data policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with Information Security, Technology, Privacy, Risk, and Compliance teams to develop strategies for data protection and retention management.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and surveillance of sensitive data movement within Equifax platforms using cloud data protection technology.
  • Ensure adherence to operational KPIs and provide regular management reporting.
  • Leverage data analytics to identify optimization opportunities and enhance business value.
  • Conduct audits and assessments for data access and retention, implementing corrective actions for identified risks.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and internal policies, reporting and addressing noncompliance issues.
  • Streamline workspace and user access provisioning processes to enable self-service through automation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance user experience and governance operations.
  • Coach, mentor, and lead a team of data compliance and governance operations staff, developing a global center of excellence.
  • Promote data governance best practices and raise awareness of data policies and standards.
  • Design and execute enterprise training on data risk and compliance requirements.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation in data governance and platform operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, data management, information security, privacy, risk management, or a related discipline.
  • 7-10 years of experience in data governance operations, technology risk management, or information security with demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience in financial services or other regulated data environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with data and technology risk management processes and control design.
  • Experience with data protection tools such as Privacera, BigID, Varonis, and ForcePoint.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms and global data sharing and privacy laws.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CIPP/CIPM/CIPT/CISM/CISSP or similar certifications.
  • Experience with advanced privacy methods like synthetic data and differential privacy.
  • Technical aptitude for design thinking and agile methodologies.
  • Experience with SQL, BI tools, and Google Cloud Data Analytics Platform.
