About the position

The Director of Data Protection at HCA Healthcare is a key leadership role responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive data protection architecture. This position ensures that the organization's data is properly classified, secured, and managed throughout its lifecycle, in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Director will collaborate with various stakeholders to provide guidance on data protection initiatives and will lead a team to promote a culture of compliance and security within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a data protection framework that defines policies, standards, processes, and controls for data protection.
  • Conduct data protection assessments and audits to identify and mitigate risks and gaps.
  • Implement and oversee data protection configurations, solutions, and tools such as data encryption and data loss prevention.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to report on the effectiveness of data protection activities.
  • Lead the development and execution of objectives and key results for the team.
  • Mentor team members and promote a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Monitor developments in data protection laws and communicate their impact on the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science required; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role required; 10+ years in information technology, data protection, or information security preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations such as HIPAA, GDPR, and NIST standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • CISSP, CISM, CIPP, or CIGP certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in data protection tools and techniques.
